PATETICA!

IBA STRATEGIC REVIEW AND REBUILDING

The past three years have seen the sport of Professional Bodyboarding hit new heights in terms of athlete performance, content delivery and community engagement. The team at the IBA has worked tirelessly to provide a product that best represents the sport and it participants. The 2012 Pipeline Challenge saw the level of viewership and quality of digital product take a huge step forward, and the team has been committed to delivering similar events ever since. There have, of course, been some failures along the way culminating in the cancellation of the Fronton event towards the end of 2013, amongst other missteps.

Moving forward, the IBA is committed to delivering a product worthy of its athletes, raising the profile of the sport and improving the viewer experience. To this end, the organization is engaging in a strategic review to best ascertain the most sustainable model for the sport moving forward – this is expected to be a six month planning and rebuilding period in which the opinions of the riders, viewers and industry players will be sought in an effort to develop a platform which is both robust and reliable, while also being less dependent on sponsorship support.

Whist Pipeline this year will not be run as an official IBA sanctioned event, we are currently working closely with the members of the Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) to provide support to the riders and the 2014 event schedule, with a view of resuming a full IBA World Tour with high quality digital content, industry support and closer viewer interaction for the year 2015.

The IBA wishes to thank the Athletes, APB, Industry Players, Sponsors and shareholders for their continued support and patience over this rebuilding period.

More information will be released in coming weeks as details are confirmed

Sin comentarios…
